We are back! Titchfield Abbey WI are delighted to once again be able to hold monthly meetings indoors, in a socially distanced way, and with all safety measures being taken.
Some lovely outdoor meetings, sometimes with a picnic, were held during this summer, but having held the first indoor meeting in September everybody is raring to go!
At the September meeting a presentation was made to the President, Maureen Levenson, of a thankyou certificate for her support, communication, wisdom and humour, as well as a pig planter for her new garden. During the pandemic and lockdowns,
Maureen wrote a total of 70 weekly newsletters, delivered by email and a few on foot, which kept all the members in touch and providing a weekly focus with a touch of wit, news and views. For some who live alone it was a weekly lifeline and Maureen would frequently follow up with telephone calls to those alone or celebrating a birthday or special event.
New members and visitors are always welcome to group meetings, which are generally held on the second Tuesday of each month, always starting at 9.30am, at Titchfield Community Centre.
Women new to the area, or perhaps recently retired or the children are now at school, all ages, are welcome to come along and try this active WI. Tea/coffee with biscuits will be served and there will be an opportunity to meet members and to find out about Titchfield Abbey WI's activities.
Further details of meetings and speakers can be found online by anyone wishing to attend a local meeting, at HCFWI (Hampshire County Federation of Womens' Institutes) and clicking on Titchfield Abbey WI.
Visitors are greeted at the door so please feel welcome to come along. At the October meeting on Tuesday 12 October we will hear Sophie Fryer talk about "Hats Off to Millinery" and on Tuesday 9 November there will be a "Remembrance" themed speaker."
Please note this information refers only to Titchfield Abbey WI, which is a morning group; Titchfield WI is a separate evening group.
