Nominate your hero for a Citizen of Honour award

Fareham Borough Council would like to invite residents to nominate their local heroes for public recognition in the 2023 Citizen of Honour awards.

The Council runs the awards each year in recognition of residents who have made a positive difference to the lives of local people. There are two categories in which people can be nominated: Young Citizen of Honour Award for residents 17 years or under, and the Citizen of Honour Award for those aged 18 or over.

The nominees must live in the Borough of Fareham, and they cannot be nominated by a family member. We cannot accept nominations for previous winners, unless the nomination is for something completely unrelated to the previous awards.

Previous winners have been nominated for charity fundraising, supporting children at school, coping with something life-changing, or caring for an individual. The deadline for making nominations in both categories is Tuesday 31 January 2022.

There will be two winners, one in each category. Winners will be invited to a reception with the Mayor to sign the Roll of Honour and receive Citizen of Honour certificates, plus they’ll each receive a £100 voucher.

Executive Leader of Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Seán Woodward, said: ‘The Citizen of Honour Awards honour those who have made a significant difference to the lives of others in the Borough. We are fortunate to have many remarkable people in Fareham and often they do not get the credit they deserve. This is your chance to show them how much their actions are appreciated by nominating them for this prestigious award.’

You can find out more information and make your nomination on our website at www.fareham.gov.uk/COH.  Nominations must be made by 11.59pm on Tuesday 31 January.
